The group visited Ford Field to watch the Detroit Lions beat the Caroline Panthers on Sunday, November 18, 2018.   The resident outing was sponsored by the hospital's Graduate Medical Education department for resident well being.

Head & Neck Oncology Microvascular/Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Announcement

Marek Ogledzki, DMD, MD

The Head & Neck Oncology Microvascular/Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship will begin its inaugural year in July, 2018.  The fellowship will be under the supervision of Dr. Carlos Ramirez.


  We are pleased to announce that Dr. Marek Ogledzki has accepted the fellowship position with our program.   Dr. Ogledzki comes to us from the University of Florida-Jacksonville.

Mission Trip to Columbia

April 28, 2018 - May 6, 2018 -  

John Salek-Raham, MD, DDS and Bruce MacIntosh, DDS traveled to Bogota, Columbia to participate on a medical mission.  


On this yearly trip, a senior level resident accompanies Dr. Bruce MacIntosh to Columbia to perform surgical repair of Cleft Lip/Palate for children in need.

Scientific abstracts from 21 oral and maxillofacial surgeons, OMS  residents, dental students, and other dental specialists were submitted  for presentation at the ACOMS and CAOMS Joint Annual Conference and  Exhibition, May 3-5, 2017 in Vancouver, BC.

Visiting Professor Day

 The department was honored to have 

Dr. James E. Bertz lecture at our most recent Visiting Professor Day, 

Friday, November 10, 2017.  

Dr. Bertz provided a wealth of knowledge and lead great discussion on topics such as the Diagnosis and Treatment of Nasal Injuries; Indications, Techniques, Common Complications and Post-operative Care of Tracheostomies; and Millard Technique for Repair of the Unilateral Cleft Lip/Nose.
