Carlos A. Ramirez, MD, DDS, FACS

Program Director

Dr. Ramirez is a board certified maxillofacial head & neck surgeon with specialized training in reconstructive surgery. He is among a handful of surgeons in Southeast Michigan trained to provide this advanced surgical option. Dr. Ramirez is on staff at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Ascension St. John Hospital  and Ascension Providence Hospital. Dr. Ramirez provides an additional spectrum of reconstruction for patients who may have been significantly disfigured by head and neck cancers. These surgical options may also be appropriate for patient with maxillofacial trauma or with soft/hard tissue defects or avulsions that require microvascular free or local pedicled flaps. 


Dr. Ramirez earned his medical degree from Wayne State University and dental surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. He completed residency training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at St. John Providence Hospital. Dr. Ramirez then went on to specialized fellowship training in Mircovascular Reconstruction, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Ramirez is a member of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association and American Dental Association. Dr. Ramirez has authored multiple peer reviewed publications, book chapters and lectures nationally and internationally on reconstructive surgery.
